This species is very numerous in some regions of North America, but the largest population lives in the western Canadian province, British Columbia. There, black bears can be found in three different colors. The most common coat color
among black bears is, of course, black, from which the species' name is derived. About 20-30% of individuals have a brown coat, also known as 'cinnamon.'
